Abstract
Every year in schools across Arkansas, teachers open their classrooms to student teachers and share their knowledge, resources, and students to prepare their interns for their future as teachers. This senior honors project sought to allow a student teacher intern in the field of Agricultural Education to create a project to give back to the agriculture program at the assigned internship site. This goal was accomplished through the construction of a barbecue smoker built for the school’s FFA program. This project was chosen because it showed the greatest potential to benefit the program, leave a lasting impact on the school, and support skill development for the intern and students. The process involved identifying a need in the program, researching smoker designs and construction techniques, designing a plan, selecting materials, and assembling the smoker. The completed smoker should be viewed as both a creative endeavor and a functional addition to the internship site program. The idea for this creative endeavor is that any viewer can see the purpose of a project like this and can see it as a valuable idea to implement for other student teachers.
