Abstract

Even though student workers are very valuable and important component of the workforce in university dining services, retentions of student workers are challenging. The purpose of this study is to examine relationships among the dimensions of leadership empowerment and job satisfaction among student workers in university foodservices. In this study, 240 questionnaires were distributed to university dining student workers at five universities and a total of 161 students responded to the survey questionnaires. Results revealed that participating in decision making, confidence in high performance, and autonomy of the dimensions of leadership empowerment influenced job satisfaction. Also, this study shows that leadership empowerment is an important role in demonstrating confidence in the student's performance and enhancing job satisfaction.
